HIKING: Pulpit Rock Trail at Cheaha State Park

Description

The trail leads to a scenic overlook in the Talladega National Forest which is characterized by its many rock outcroppings. This area of the Park is noted for its high concentration of mountain laurel and when in bloom in the spring, makes for a very colorful walk. The trail is one way and does not loop back upon itself. A moderate hike, Pulpit Rock is a quartzite rock facing where many guests come to rappel or just take in the view.

Directions

From Delta, AL head South on State Lake Road, then North on 49, then South on 281 into Cheaha State Park. Just before you reach our Bluffside Cabins(cabins numbered 1-4 and 16), you will reach the beginning of the Pulpit Rock Trail. The parking area for this trail is located on the right side of the road, just before you get to the Bluffside Cabins.
